Minimum Wage Determination Commission meets for second increase in wages

Inflation out of control and consequent falling purchasing power caused the Minimum Wage Determination Commission to convene for the second time during the year.

The Minimum Wage Determination Commission, which millions of minimum wage earners await with great expectation, convened yesterday at the Ministry of Labor and Social Security.
 
The Commission, which met for the second time due to economic problems, started its studies to determine the second increase rate to the minimum wage.
 
The new minimum wage to be determined at the meeting will be announced by President Erdoğan.
 

AKYOL: “TİSK ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY”

 
Ozgur Burak Akyol, Chairman of the Confederation of Turkish Employers' Unions (TİSK), who took the first floor at the meeting, stated that they are in agreement as the public, employer and employer to protect employees against inflation.
 
"We support meeting the melting incomes of our workers and, as TİSK, we assume responsibility."
 

ATALAY: “NON-UNIONIZATION CONDEMNS TO THE MINIMUM WAGE”

 
Ergün Atalay, Chairman of the Türk-İş Confederation, speaking on behalf of the workers' side, drew attention to the meltdown of the increase in January and noted that this meltdown should be met.
 
Atalay also stated that workers in Turkey are stuck with the minimum wage due to non-unionization.
 
"Barriers to unionization must be removed," he said.
 

BİLGİN: “INFLATION DISRUPTS INCOME DISTRIBUTION”

 
Vedat Bilgin, Minister of Labor and Social Security, who hosted the meeting, emphasized that inflation disrupts the income distribution.
 
"Therefore, as a requirement of the social state, we take steps to protect our employees against inflation. The most important tool we have for this is the minimum wage. I hope that the commission work that we started today will be concluded tomorrow," Bilgin said.
