Minister of Foreign Affairs Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu presented the 2023 budget of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and related institutions at the Plan and Budget Committee of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM).
“WE CAREFULLY IMPLEMENTED THE MONTREUX CONVENTION”
Stating that Turkey did not recognize the annexation of Crimea and the last referendums held in eastern Ukraine, Çavuşoğlu said, “We have meticulously implemented the Montreux Convention. We prevented the escalation of the war in the Black Sea. In particular, we went beyond the Montreux Convention and enabled countries to take the necessary steps to reduce tensions.”

Çavuşoğlu stated that they aim to cooperate with Israel within the framework of mutual interests and respect for mutual sensitivities, ambassadors were reappointed mutually and high-level visits took place, he emphasized that the rights of the Palestinians and the status of Jerusalem are an important element of the relations, and that they are ready to advance the process on this basis with the new government to be established in Israel.
