Regarding the "Teaching Profession Law", which hundreds of thousands of teachers have been waiting for years, Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer stated that it would be brought to the agenda of the Parliament in December to decide. After the Minister's statement, despite the last days of December, nothing came to the agenda of the Assembly regarding the law, and now the holiday decision of the Assembly has caused the "Teaching Profession Law" to be postponed to next year.
THE LAW HAS BEEN DELAYED SINCE 2018
With the "Teaching Profession Law", which hundreds of thousands of teachers expected, it was planned to "return teachers' credit", "to provide material and moral improvement in personal rights", "to make the teaching profession a specialization profession" and "to provide 3600 additional indicator opportunities". After the law was first announced in 2018, it came to the fore many times, but was postponed again. While it was announced by the Minister that he would come to the Parliament in December, the law remained in the new year with the Parliament taking a recess until January 4th.
LAW POSTPONED TO 2022
While hundreds of thousands of teachers have been waiting for this law for years, the government's long-standing postponement of the law has caused reactions. The last decision regarding the law, which has come to the agenda many times since its first announcement in 2018, was taken at the "20th National Education Council". The teachers, who expected the law to come in December after the council, reacted to the postponement of the law after the parliament's holiday decision. With the holiday decision, the enactment of the law was postponed to 2022 and transferred to its 4th year.
