The minister's predictions do not exceed a week. In his previous statements, Treasury and Finance Minister Nurettin Nebati, who claimed that inflation will fall to single digits in June 2023, later said, "It will be around 40 percent for a while. There will be some fall in the summer months. At the end of the year, we aim to reduce it below 30 percent with the base effect.” Minister Nebati contradicted his previous statement, saying, "Inflation will peak below 50 percent in April," on the day that Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) announced annual inflation as 48,69. The fact that Minister Nebati made different statements about inflation at short intervals also caused concerns about other figures in the economy. In an interview with the Japanese news agency Nikkei, Treasury and Finance Minister Nureddin Nebati “I don't think we will see 50 percent inflation levels. I hope I am not wrong,” he added. He said that Turkey will face an important inflation problem, but other countries in the world are also suffering from the same problem. Stating that, Nebati said, “We expect inflation to rise in January and remain at high levels for a certain period of time. We think that inflation will start to recover in the summer months and will decline sharply in December due to the base effect,” he added.

Saying that they do not expect further depreciation in the Turkish Lira (TL), Nebati argued that there would be no imbalance between the exchange rates at the time he took office and the exchange rates at the end of the year. Admitting that the Central Bank had a direct and indirect intervention before the currency-protected deposit instrument was announced, Nebati emphasized that there was no intervention after the instrument was announced and said, "Even if it happened after the announcement, these are just minor touches."
