With the start of the new academic year, allegations of mobbing against teachers continue to be on the agenda once again.
Confederation of Public Workers Union (Memur-Sen) Iğdır Representative and Educators Union (Eğitim-Bir-Sen) Branch President Erkan Çiğdem reacted harshly by sharing the details of the mobbing allegation in the Eylül district with the public.
According to Çiğdem's claim, she said that she was subjected to mobbing at the District Directorate of National Education, where she went to sign the contract of the new teacher in the district.
"The district national education director tells our teacher, who went to the District National Education Directorate to sign his contract, 'dress like a teacher' after seeing in the decree that he is an imam hatip vocational course teacher. When our teacher asks, 'How does a teacher dress, principal?', he says 'like me' and shows his suit. Just one day after the incident, the district director of national education saw our teacher with a few newly appointed teachers and said, 'Don't wait idly, come and carry a book.' When our teacher moves to do this, this time he throws the cigarette stub away," Çiğdem said.
“WE DO NOT LEAVE OUR TEACHERS ALONE”
According to Çiğdem's claim, the district director of national education continued to mobbing the imam-hatip high school (İHL) teacher at the meeting attended by all teachers.
"Before the district manager enters the hall, the branch manager comes to the hall and says to the teachers, 'Everyone stand up, our esteemed principal is coming.' When our teacher, who drank his water at the time, could not stand up, the director of national education reacted. He invites our teacher out. And during the meeting, he says, 'You will no longer be able to work in this district, I will terminate your contract.' At the end of the meeting, he intimidates our teacher by writing a report and stating that he will open an investigation in front of the teachers," Çiğdem added.
WAS HE CHOSEN A VICTIM BECAUSE HE WAS A IHL TEACHER?
In the continuation of her statements, Çiğdem said, "Why is there so much pressure on the teacher who starts working in your district with such a rigid attitude? Since we know the district manager's previous posts about imam hatip schools, Islamic NGOs and religious communities, we understand why this teacher was chosen as a victim. Is it because he is a vocational course teacher at an imam-hatip high school? This attitude of the district national education director is never acceptable. We do not leave our teacher alone."
