Many Muslims lost their lives in the incidents. Some Muslims tried to defend themselves against attacks by Hindu mobs. 23 people from both groups have been killed so far.

Hindu mobs destroyed the mosques and torn up a Holy Qur'an, throwing its pages on the ground.

The attacks on Muslims were launched on Sunday after supporters of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), passed by Parliament last December, attacked anti-government protest sites.

Two Journalists were badly beaten by a mob just now in Delhi, they only stopped beating them after realising they are Hindus.

The videos posted on social media showed mobs beating defenseless Muslims with iron bars in the streets.

"Had an extensive review on the situation prevailing in various parts of Delhi. Police and other agencies are working on the ground to ensure peace and normalcy. Peace and harmony are central to our ethos. I appeal to my sisters and brothers of Delhi to maintain peace and brotherhood at all times. It is important that there is calm and normalcy is restored at the earliest, " tweeted Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday.
