Last week, we experienced the biggest disaster in the history of the country, which caused great destruction in 10 provinces. I wish God's mercy on our citizens who lost their lives as a result of the earthquake. I wish a speedy recovery to our citizens who survived with injuries, and strength and patience to those left behind.

I hope that the weaknesses we experienced in doing what needs to be done before the earthquake and during the post-earthquake rescue work will not be experienced in the healing process of the post-earthquake wounds.

In our article last week, I focused on what to do before the earthquake. Today, I would like to touch on what happened in the post-earthquake period. In the post-earthquake period, the lack of coordination within the scope of search and rescue efforts was the common opinion of everyone who witnessed the work done in the region.

Incompetence, which is the most obvious problem in terms of the country's administration, also showed itself in the post-earthquake studies. Unfortunately, the cost of time lost by unqualified administrators who waited for instructions, especially in the first two days, was heavy. Much has been spoken about what has been done and what needs to be done, and it continues to be talked about.

I would like to refer to another actor who failed a test rather than the institutions that carried out and coordinated rescue efforts in this process; political establishment and political parties.

In the process of contributing to the efforts to provide social unity and to heal the wounds within the unity of the state and nation after a disaster in which the greatest natural disaster in the history of the country was experienced and 13.5 million people were affected, unfortunately, some political parties, especially the ruling party of the country and the main opposition party, gave a very bad test.

Mistakes such as the statement of the spokesperson of the ruling party that the "People's alliance is on the ground", sending the logo of the ruling party to the earthquake zones by affixing the logo of the ruling party to the aid collected by the governorship in the provinces, excluding the opposition municipalities from the scope in the coordination meetings with the municipalities, these were some of the mistakes of the ruling party in terms of politicizing the process, examples of which we can increase.

Similar mistakes were made by the main opposition party. Since the second day of the earthquake, the leader of the main opposition party responded to the government's mistake with another mistake in the critical process with his provocative statements like "Come, arrest us" on social media.

In addition, the fact that the representatives of the main opposition party shared inaccurate, purposeful and unspecified information about the struggle with their shortcomings on the field forced the institutions that were supposed to work in the field to deny the shared information. Moreover, these posts and shared misinformation could have resulted in disruptive work in the field. As a result, the government and the main opposition gave an unsuccessful test in the most critical period of the earthquake, with the attitude and explanations we have explained above with a few examples.

The failure of the country's ruling and main opposition party to pass the exam in the most critical period in the history of the country we are in has once again revealed that the biggest test of our nation in the last 20 years is the government and the main opposition party that feeds the government. It is never just a simple matter of two political parties taking steps to lose people's trust. The ruling party and the main opposition party are the two main elements of politics.

The fact that the two main elements of the political mechanism, by displaying a political, not humanitarian, attitude after a major disaster experienced by the country, undermine people's trust in politics, may cause the nation to experience a total loss of confidence in the political mechanism. This situation may result in the nation losing hope for the future, which means that the society is open to all kinds of confusion from a sociological point of view.

For this reason, the most critical task of prudent politicians, who are statesmen, is to take positive steps to repair the loss of confidence in the political establishment, and to save the country from the boatman's fight and polarization in the current political arithmetic. Of course, at this point, the biggest task falls to Milli Görüş movement, which has been the address of common sense and unifying with its constructive, solution-oriented, political understanding that embraces the whole society for more than 50 years.
