(Making Islam dominate)

Last week, we tried to touch on the possibilities and weaknesses of movements with different conceptions of society. This week, I think we should go more privately and discuss the attitude of a movement that places Islam at the center of its conception of society. We need to evaluate on the right ground what, why and how a movement that covers the whole of life, socially, politically and economically, will do. Correct and accurate answers to these three questions will show us the success of the movement.

The answer to the question of what is to understand the purpose of the movement. As we have stated above, the purpose of a movement that places Islam at the center of life with all its aspects is clear in this definition. In fact, in the slogans of movements that refer to Islam, we often come across sentences such as "We will make Islam dominant or we will establish an Islamic order." Then the first thing to do is to fill in the concept of Islam. For this purpose, we must explain the relationship between Islam and human beings or, in clear terms, what Allah wants from human beings, so that we can understand the purpose of the movement on the right ground.

For one thing, the existence of people in the world is related to the testing process. The goal of each individual is to win Allah's approval and be successful in the test. The testing ground of man is the world. Since the main purpose of religion is to guide people to pass this test successfully, we cannot separate religion from this world and what is happening in this world. What is happening in the world has a mobility in terms of both change and continuity. Here, religion aims to bring the world, that is, the field of testing, to the best condition for people, including this mobility. Thus, the examination process will be fulfilled properly.

There are people of different religions, identities, and different opinions all over the world. If it is desired to bring this world to the most beautiful state, these differences need to be taken into account. For this, the basic truths of humanity should be applied. It should not be forgotten that these truths are also the basic principles of Islam. The vision of a society in which the good, the beautiful, the beneficial, the justice and the truth dominate also means making Islam dominant. Each view believes that these principles will be implemented through their own values. This is reasonable, but imposing one's own values on others for this reason is cruelty. In short, the main purpose is to make this world livable for human beings. It is to reveal the good for everyone within the limits of human life. If a social movement does not have such a claim or an idea, it should not cast a role for itself in a global sense.

Movements that center Islam in their conceptions of society should be able to implement these global ideals on a local scale as well. The fact that a movement that cannot make an effort to prevent the evil near it, put a stop to the persecution, criticize a wrong practice, or object to injustice, carries global claims and constantly voices it will mean nothing but animosity. At the same time, movements that want to take the initiative in issues that concern everyone living in their geography must accept the difference in the social base with their free will. This does not mean that he has given up on the basic principles of the movement, nor does it mean that he sees negativities as legitimate according to his own worldview. The important thing here is that everyone should show the maturity to leave a free space for everyone in their test.

A movement that started out with the promise that we will make Islam dominant; should act by taking into account the possibilities and weaknesses of the time, the political and social differences of the society, the conceptions of society and social realities. Instead of the nostalgia of the sociality experienced in certain periods of history, it should ensure that the ideals arising from the essence of Islam meet with the society.
