Greece is experiencing the strongest period in its history in foreign policy. In fact, the first strategic step was taken after the Greek Republic of Cyprus became a member of the European Union under the name of the Republic of Cyprus. Despite saying 'No' in the Annan Referendum, the Greek Republic of Cyprus, which became an EU member, was fully rewarded. Deprived of a strategic future vision, Turkey's excessive willingness to vote "Yes" to the Annan Plan had silenced the voices of opposition as much as possible. After this process, Greece entered into efforts to gain ground. Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis' statement, "We succeeded in making the EU a party to the problems between us and Turkey," revealed the trap with all its dimensions. Afterwards, France's establishment of a military base in Southern Cyprus was the most important step for the EU's direct entry into the business. Subsequently, France's signing of a defense cooperation agreement with Greece emerged as evidence of the extent of EU support. Of course, in addition to all these, the fact that the United States and Greece renewed their defense cooperation agreement for 5 years last week and that there were articles directly targeting Turkey in the details of this agreement did not go unnoticed. The decision to accept a possible attack on Greece as if it was done against the USA and to equip Alexandroupoli, 40 km away from Turkey, as a military base of the USA, was also designed as a shield for Greece. It was also interesting to note that the United States, in particular, prevented Turkey from fighting against DAESH in a way that disregards security concerns. US President Joe Biden actually cited the “Train-Equip up” agreement he made with Turkey as a reason for these statements. Turkey's "Train-Equip up" agreement with the USA showed that the same traps were falling in Syria in different aspects, such as the negative consequences of the Annan Plan. If the USA has become our neighbor in Syria today, unfortunately, this agreement has formed the most important basis for this.

As a result, Turkey is faced with a siege in foreign policy. Misreadings of the government and the wrong steps it has taken so far have raised Turkey's security concerns. Turkey can and must get out of this pressure. The Western world wants to draw the borders of Greece as their own with the defense cooperation agreements they have made. This is a sign that Turkey can be targeted directly from now on. There is an urgent need to shift to a supra-government understanding in foreign policy. The effort to save the day is about to turn into a vicious circle. In the continuation of this, it remains only to enter a hot war directly. Turkey is a country that will not hesitate to risk everything, but it should use its corporate mind to carefully follow the pitfalls. Until yesterday, when we were saying that this Greece will challenge us over population ratios, today there is a Greece that makes big words under the protection of the EU and the USA. The time has come to reform foreign policy. How long do we have to wait to be cornered before we take this step?
