The Extraordinary General Assembly of the Federation of the Retirement Age Victims (EYT) was held with wide participation. Gönül Boran Özüpak, Chairwoman of EYT, was re-elected as the chairwoman by reassuring her at the general assembly. Speaking at the extraordinary general assembly, Saadet Party Deputy Chairman Mustafa Kaya wished that the congress would be instrumental in eliminating the grievances of EYT members as soon as possible and said, “It should be known that the issue of retirement age victims, which has been on the country's agenda for a long time, has become a topic of discussion with your efforts and insistence. For this reason, I think that you should also congratulate you for overcoming this most important obstacle regarding the solution of the EYT issue.”
“REALISTIC PROMISES ARE NEEDED”
Emphasizing that realistic solutions should be put forward instead of populist promises, Kaya said, “Expectations and problems should not be ignored. This is exactly why there should not be a perception that early retirees are a burden to the working class. Social security vulnerabilities should not be shown as problems caused by a certain group by only being associated with the pension. For this, notions such as pension contracts, social reconciliation, constitutional rights, social welfare and social state must be acted upon, in which the country asserts its existence for a more prosperous future.”
“JUSTICE SHOULD BE ESTABLISHED IN A PERFECT MANNER”
Drawing attention to the problems experienced in social security, Kaya said, “The greatest power of the state in social security is that it operates the law between the system and individuals and establishes justice in a perfect sense. As a result, a correct approach should be brought to the EYT problem that has emerged today and why EYT members want to retire. It is clear that the increasing inflation and cost of living in our country in the last few years have led to an increase in the retirement expectations of our citizens who have come to retirement. On the other hand, the legal regulation on pensions related to premium payments also constituted a just cause to the demand for early retirement.”
"SOLUTION NEEDED"
Saying that the reasons that justify the expectations of EYT members should be eliminated, Kaya said; “The legal regulations in question should be revised immediately. The Social Security Institution (SGK) should have a structure that has an autonomous identity and unique process management. While combating unregistered employment, premium collection rates should be increased by bringing insurance premium rates to payable levels. As the Saadet Party, we believe that the EYT problem should be resolved as soon as possible. Because, as I have just stated, the problem that stands before us for a certain age group today may appear in a different and more complex form tomorrow. For this, first of all, it is necessary to solve the urgent problems of EYT members. Afterwards, it is necessary to repair the systemic errors and reorganize the social security system to meet the needs of the period.”
