Numan Kurtulmuş, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey (TBMM), made a remarkable statement on the 104th anniversary of the declaration of the National Pact.
"The oath we took on the road to our independence during our War of Independence was documented as the National Pact and became one of the cornerstones of our country. The National Pact is extremely valuable because it is a covenant that reflects our nation's understanding of freedom and independence," Kurtulmuş said.
“NATIONAL PACT MUST BE UPDATED ACCORDING TO DAY”
"This text and meaning, written with the will expressed in Istanbul shortly before our national sovereignty was announced to the whole world, is a national direction determination that was unanimously accepted at the Erzurum and Sivas congresses. Our efforts to ensure the integrity of our lands and the peaceful environment we desire in our region, through our struggle with our common values and faith, continue today with uninterrupted determination. Today, it is necessary to update our understanding of the National Pact within the framework of our blue homeland, cyber homeland, space homeland and green homeland goals. We respectfully commemorate our martyrs and veterans who died in the cause of God, adhering to our oath that instilled in us the spirit of freedom and independence," Kurtulmuş added.
