National Security Council convenes for the first time

Following the Presidential Election held on May 28, the National Security Council (MGK) will convene for the first time with its new members under the chairmanship of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

The meeting at the Presidential Complex will also be the first NSC meeting of the new cabinet.
 
Deputy President Cevdet Yılmaz, Minister of Justice Yılmaz Tunç, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Minister of Interior Ali Yerlikaya, Minister of National Defense Yaşar Güler, Chief of General Staff General Musa Avsever and force commanders will attend the meeting chaired by President Erdoğan.
 
Hakan Fidan, who previously participated as the Head of the National Intelligence Organization (MIT), will attend the meeting as the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Yaşar Güler as the Chief of the General Staff, and İbrahim Kalın as the Head of the MIT.
 
At the meeting, strategic, regional and national security issues are expected to be discussed, especially the counter-terrorism operations carried out in northern Iraq and Syria.
 

ISSUES TO BE CONSIDERED BECOMES CLEAR

 
It is planned that the activities carried out within the scope of border security will also be among the important topics to be discussed at the meeting, and the operations against all terrorist organizations, especially PKK/KCK-PYD/YPG, FETO and DAESH, will be discussed at the meeting.
 
It is expected that Turkey's efforts for peace, mediation and facilitation activities, humanitarian aid and permanent ceasefire issues, especially the developments related to the Russia-Ukraine War and the Black Sea Grain Corridor Agreement, will be discussed.
 
At the meeting, where developments in the Aegean, Cyprus and the Eastern Mediterranean will also be evaluated, it is envisaged to discuss the efforts to protect the rights of Turkey and the TRNC in the Eastern Mediterranean arising from international law.
 
It is expected that the latest situation within the scope of Sweden's application for NATO membership, following the provocative actions from Sweden against Turkey, will also be discussed at the meeting.
