One of the cornerstones of the National Vision Movement, the founding leader of the Milli Selamet Party (MSP), the founding member of the Felicity (Saadet) Party, former Minister of Turkey and National Vision Leader. Prof. Dr. Necmettin Erbakan's companion Süleyman Arif Emre passed away at the age of 96.
Süleyman Arif Emre started his political life in 1956 at the Hürriyet Party. He was was a close friend of our Erbakan hodja. Emre joined the National Order Party movement in 1971 as a founding member.
When the Milli Nizam Party was closed, he served as the founding leader of the Milli Selamet Party in 1972-1973. He served as state minister in the coalition governments established in 1974 and 1977.
Suleyman Arif Emre, who was elected as Istanbul deputy from the Welfare Party in the general elections of 24 December 1995, was inaugurated as the oldest member of the Assembly and served as the president of the Turkish Grand National Assembly for a while until he was elected as the new president. During this period, he also acted as the acting president.
