Working to heal the wounds after the Kahramanmaraş earthquakes, the Turkish Red Crescent has moved on to the second phase of the "Tradesmen Support Program", which it initiated with the aim of recovering small businesses and revitalizing the economy.
NEARLY 100 MILLION TL PAYMENT WAS MADE
A total of 98.9 million TL was paid to 3,585 small business owners in the provinces of Adıyaman, Kahramanmaraş, Hatay, Malatya, Gaziantep and Osmaniye, which were most affected by the earthquakes.
In the first phase of the program, 25 million TL support was provided to 600 tradesmen in 2023.
THE AIM IS TO REVITALIZE THE LOCAL ECONOMY
Cash aid is provided to tradesmen to obtain equipment and materials that they can use in their workplaces, enabling them to re-engage in economic life and contribute to the local economy.
The program aims to include all segments of society in the economic recovery process, giving priority to vulnerable groups such as the disabled, women and the elderly.
"WE ARE WORKING TO OPEN THE SHUTTERS OF TRADESMEN AGAIN"
Turkish Red Crescent President Prof. Dr. Fatma Meriç Yılmaz emphasized the importance of the program.
"One of our primary duties is to support our tradesmen affected by the earthquake and ensure that they return to business life. This support is not just aid, but also a step towards the revival of the economic dynamics of the society," Yılmaz said.
