At least 38 people were arrested across Turkey for their suspected links to PKK terror group, police sources said on Tuesday.

Police rounded up 11 out of 38 suspects in the capital Ankara as part of anti-terror raids after Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office issued arrest warrants for 25 PKK suspects, said one of the sources, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on talking to the media.

The suspects were plotting a terrorist attack ahead of the March 21 spring festival of Nevruz, the source said.

In central Konya province, anti-terror raids ahead of Nevruz also saw arrest of eight PKK suspects, another police source said.

Separately, 19 PKK-linked suspects were also arrested in counter-terorrorism operations in eastern Van province.

The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the EU -- resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015.

Since then, it has been responsible for the deaths of more than 1,200 Turkish security personnel and civilians, including a number of women and children.
