In our country, where everyone from A to Z feel the economic crisis deeply, the government entered 2021 with the "reform package" statements, which include some economic terms, after 2019 and 2020. 
 
While the previous Minister of Treasury and Finance announced dozens of reforms and packages during his tenure, his successor announced that 2021 would be the “reform year”. 
 
Stating that they will support their monetary policies with structural steps, the Minister said, "The year 2021 will be a reform year focusing on macroeconomic stability." 
 
The reforms and packages announced in previous years could not prevent the bad course of the economy.
 
Food overtakes inflation!
 
While food inflation became 20.61 percent, exceeding the annual inflation rate of 14.6 percent; Last year, the highest increase in food prices was seen in "instant milk desserts" with 674.4 percent. Eggs, "fixtures of the kitchen", increased by 82.2 percent, lentils by 60.4 percent, and sunflower oil by 51.8 percent.
 
Turkey Statistical Institute (TUIK) data, annual inflation was 14.60 percent in December 2020. The annual change in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) was calculated as 20.61 percent in the food and non-alcoholic beverages group and 0.65 percent in the alcoholic beverages and tobacco group. Last year, there was an increase in the price of 120 food products compared to the previous year, and the price of 5 products decreased. In the said period, the product with the highest increase in price was instant milk desserts with 674.4 percent. The kilogram price of this product approached 20 lira. They were followed by cauliflower with 100.9 percent, spinach with 83.9 percent, eggs with 82.2 percent, oranges with 70.8 percent, leeks with 63.5 percent and lentils with 60.4 percent.

During this period, tomato prices rose by 42.2 percent, milk prices by 2.5 percent and lamb meat by 21.2 percent. During this period, the price of lemon, which was regulated in its foreign trade, decreased by 8.08 percent.
