Within the scope of the economic struggle with the pandemic, the government brought ease of structuring with the Tax Amnesty for the citizens to pay their "debt to the state". However, in the 8-month period, more than 1.8 million people could not even pay their restructured debts. The debts that the state did not forgive, the economy did not forgive either!
1.8 MILLION PEOPLE CANNOT PAY THE DEBT STRUCTURED
The ongoing economic crisis in Turkey in recent years has deepened with the effect of the pandemic. The government brought the opportunity to restructure tax debts instead of amnesty in the economic environment worsened by the pandemic. Eight months ago, 1,804,747 of the 8 million citizens who restructured taxes, fees, Credit and Hostels Institution (KYK) debt, traffic fines and other administrative fines within the scope of Law No. 7256 lost their right to benefit from the law because they could not pay the installments of their debts. The inability of the citizens to pay even their debt, which was structured within the scope of tax amnesty, once again revealed how deep the economic bottleneck in the country has become.
APPLICATION HAS BEEN MADE FOR 110 BILLION DEBT
Application for Tax Amnesty started on 17 November 2020 and ended on 1 February 2021. In this process, 7,679,000 citizens applied to Tax Amnesty to restructure their 110 billion TL debt.
According to the answer to the question asked by İzmir Deputy Murat Minister through CIMER, a total of 1,483,000 people who preferred the option to pay in installments within the scope of the configuration lost their right to benefit from the law because they could not pay their first two installments in due time. It was stated that 321,152 people who preferred the cash payment option lost their right to benefit from the law "because they did not make the necessary payment".
