A dispute report was kept during the collective bargaining agreement process of the Turkish Metal Industrialists' Union (MESS), which concerns approximately 130,000 metal workers. In the negotiations between the Turkish Metal Union and MESS, the worker side, who did not accept the wage increase offer of the MESS side, left the table. Making a statement on the subject, the Turkish-Metal Union noted that they had a constructive attitude throughout the negotiations, but that they did not see it by MESS. In its statement, the union said, “MESS made a wage increase proposal that our union could not accept in the session held today. Against the proposal of our union, it has proposed an increase of 12 percent for the first 6 months, and an increase in the inflation rate for the other 6-month periods. On the other hand, an increase of 19.25 percent for the first year and as much as the inflation rate for the second year was proposed for social rights. Turkish Metal Union left the contract table due to this uncompromising attitude and started the mediation process by keeping the report of discrepancy.”
“AN OFFER FAR FROM THE REALITY OF THE COUNTRY"
The Union stating that such an offer is unacceptable at a time when the economy is experiencing negativities, "The Turkish Metal Union is determined not to harm the hard work of its members entrusted to our union, and not to compromise on the rights and freedoms of labor and rights and justice in working life. Turkish Metal will not hesitate to take legal and legitimate actions against uncompromising attitude and approach of MESS. The Turkish Metal Union declares to our members and the public that its effective and widespread actions will continue increasingly until a result is obtained," Turkish Metal Union added.
