On Dec. 19, 22-year-old Mevlut Mert Altintas shot Andrey Karlov while the diplomat delivered a speech at an art exhibition in the Turkish capital Ankara. Altintas was later shot dead in an exchange of fire with security personnel.

The sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the Forensic Medicine Institute in Ankara completed an autopsy on the policeman's body on Dec. 21. Since then no one has claimed the remains.
