After the Justice and Development Party (AKP) government fixed relations with Zionist Israel, it turned to Egypt. While the government made persistent attempts to normalize with the coup administration in Egypt, the condolence message issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the Egyptian soldiers killed in the Suez Canal the other day was interpreted as a diplomatic gesture and a message of friendship to the Sisi government. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Turkey shared a message of condolence regarding the attack in which many Egyptian soldiers were killed in the east of the Suez Canal. In a written statement condemning the attack, moderate messages were also given to the Egyptian state. The statement said, “we condemn the attack on a water pumping station east of the Suez Canal in Egypt on May 7, which killed 11 soldiers and injured 5 soldiers. We wish Almighty God's mercy on those who lost their lives in the attack, our condolences to their families, to the brotherly people of Egypt and to the Egyptian state, and a speedy recovery to the injured ones.”
MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD’S TV CHANNEL LEFT TURKEY
While Turkey's insistence on rapprochement with Egypt continued, last week, the TV channel of the Egyptian Brotherhood of Muslim Movement called "Mekameleen", which broadcasts in Turkey, decided to stop its broadcasts in Turkey. The channel management announced that they had decided to stop their broadcasts in Turkey due to the undisguised current conditions and that they would move their studios to another country. It has been commented that the reason for Mekameleen TV's departure from Turkey, which has been broadcasting from Turkey for 8 years, is Turkey's rapprochement with the Egyptian administration. The Sisi regime declared the Muslim Brotherhood Movement a terrorist organization after the 2013 military coup.
ERDOĞAN: “WE WANT TO REACH UNITY AND TOGETHERNESS WITH EGYPT”
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, on his return from Saudi Arabia, gave moderate messages about improving relations with Egypt. Erdogan said, “There is a truth right now. And that is, we have a policy with Israel, similarly, we have such a possible policy with Egypt. Our relations with Egypt are still at a low level, even between our intelligence agencies. Our relations between our businessmen continue. Positive results indicate that these steps can be taken at a higher level. Because the Egyptian people and the Turkish people have much in common with each other. Therefore, we cannot pretend that the Egyptian people are not there. Our hearts desire this as soon as possible, let's achieve this togetherness. Because I think that once we achieve this, the peace and unity of the region will move to a much more advanced position, I hope.”
