Saadet Party Women's Branch Head Nurgül Beytiye Ekinci spoke about the developments in Kahramanmaraş-centered earthquakes in a press statement titled "Earthquake and Women".

"As women who have adopted the motto to act by holding on to the rope of Allah, not by being caught in the perception of others, all women in Turkey will win together," Ekinci said.

Nurgül Beytiye Ekinci, Head of the Women's Branch, made evaluations about the earthquake disaster in a press statement held at Saadet Party Headquarters, and stated that the needs of those living in the earthquake areas could not be met.

She noted that despite all this, women tried to keep the family together financially and morally, but faced security problems in the region.

"WE CAN'T FORGET WHAT WE LOSE IN THE EARTHQUAKE"

Expressing that she organized the most difficult press conference of her life, Ekinci started by wishing God's mercy to those who lost their lives in the earthquake disaster and patience to their families and relatives.

Ekinci continued by commemorating Merve Betül Gürbüz, Head of Adıyaman Women's Branch, who lost her life in the earthquake.

"My sister Merve Betül Gürbüz and her family were pulled out of the rubble hugging each other. The pain in our hearts is indescribable. We witness the efforts of our sister Ayşe Solmaz, who always has a smile on her face, and her family. Even though we try to heal the wounds caused by the earthquake in which thousands of people lost their lives and hundreds of thousands of people were injured in the earthquake that burned us like a ember, we can neither forget our lives lost under the rubble nor fill the deep void that has opened up inside us," Ekinci added.

“THERE ARE MAJOR DEFECTS IN ACCESSING BASIC ITEMS”

"We will not forget that human life is very cheap in our country where everything is expensive. As a nation, we will not forget the AFAD administrators who were not around when they were supposed to manage the crisis, the politicians who adopted an ugly style in the days when the fire burned us, the mayors who left the city saying that everything was under our control, and the Red Crescent president who said that he was selling the tents in his hands arrogantly. If we look at what happened after the earthquake; There are still major disruptions in accessing even the most basic necessities. There are great delays in taking even the simplest steps that still need to be taken. The problem of shelter, which is the basic need of people, has not been solved. These are absolutely unacceptable. It is unacceptable to act as if they do not exist and everything is fine. It is very clear that; We are faced with a great incompetence. There is opportunity, there is no coordination. There is no crisis management, there is a management crisis. When we went to the earthquake area in person, we saw that women were again the ones who bore the load the most," Ekinci stated.

"EREN BÜLBÜL'S, YUSUF KERİM'S MOTHER IS OUR PRIORITY"

"Every day, new problems are added to the problems that women who stayed in the region or migrated after the earthquake are currently experiencing. Our women, who cannot meet their needs, have to deal with the security problem while trying to keep the family together financially and morally. The essence of this society is the family. The foundation of the family is our women. We cannot neglect fathers, but our mothers are the pillar of our family and I would like to express my gratitude to our mothers who are trying to create opportunities in these impossible conditions. Just as we protect the rights of headscarved women, we defend the rights of every woman who is marginalized and who suffers injustice. Reuniting Yusuf Kerim, who is in the last stage of the disease, with his mother is also our priority, and Eren Bülbül's mother is also our priority," Ekinci said.

“WE, THE WOMEN WILL CONTINUE TO BE TOGETHER”

In the last part of the press conference, Ekinci continued by commemorating the women who were victims of violence or murder and said following words:

"We will not forget Özgecan Aslan, Azra Haytaoğlu, Burcu Çiftçi, Feray Şahin and Vesile Dönmez. Just as we were united when we were fighting for our headscarf on February 28, today we women will continue to stand together against politicians who are trying to win votes over our headscarves and our religious values. We will continue to be together for the material and spiritual development of our country and for the restoration of public, social and individual morality. Because we are Turkey. No one can break our brotherhood. No one can bring us face to face. All women in Turkey will win together, as women who have adopted the motto to act by holding on to Allah's rope, not by being caught in the perception of others."
