Israeli forces rounded up 29 Palestinians in overnight raids across the Israeli-occupied West Bank, according to Palestinian activists.

Israeli forces raided several homes in the cities of Ramallah and Bethlehem in southern West Bank and detained seven people, Qadura Fares, head of the Palestinian Prisoners Society, an NGO, told Anadolu Agency on Wednesday.

Eleven more Palestinians were arrested in Eastern Jerusalem and the cities of Nablus, Jenin and Qalqiliya, he said.

Meanwhile, Muhammad Abu al-Hummus, a member of the local follow-up committee in East Jerusalem’s al-Issawiya neighborhood, said 11 more people were detained in Israeli raids in the neighborhood.

“All of the detainees were rounded up from their houses in the night and taken in custody for further investigation,” he said.

The Israeli army has yet to issue an official statement on the arrests.

The Israeli army frequently carries out wide-ranging arrest campaigns in the West Bank on the pretext of searching for "wanted" Palestinians.

According to Palestinian official figures, more than 6,400 Palestinians are currently held in detention facilities throughout Israel.
