The late Asiltürk, who fought hard for the realization of the Cyprus Peace Operation when he was Minister of Interior, was instrumental in the Council of Ministers taking a very noble and dignified decision only 6 days after the operation. By the order of the Minister of Interior Oğuzhan Asiltürk, the American Base Incirlik was closed and the American flag was lowered and the Turkish flag was hung in its place. Asiltürk also carried out very important works for the industrial and technological development of Turkey. During his years as the Minister of Industry and Technology, the deceased Asiltürk pioneered the establishment of Türk Aerospace Industries, which is proud these days.
THE FOUNDATION CEREMONY OF THE FACTORY HAS BEEN CARRIED OUT ON A SIGNIFICANT DATE
Almost in his speech, the late Asiltürk, who drew attention to the importance of the conquest of Istanbul and referred to this issue, announced that the groundbreaking ceremony of Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. would also be held on the day of the conquest of Istanbul.
HE ENTERED POLITICAL HISTORY AS THE ONLY MINISTER OF INTERIOR THAT CLOSED INCIRLIK BASE
Asiltürk also fought hard for the realization of the Cyprus Peace Operation during his days as the Minister of Interior. Only 6 days after the glorious operation started on 20 July 1974, the Council of Ministers took a very noble and dignified decision. With the decision taken by the Council of Ministers, the American Base Incirlik was closed by the order of the Minister of Interior Oğuzhan Asiltürk, and the American flag was lowered and the Turkish flag was hung in its place.
Regarding the seizure of the bases, Minister of Interior Asiltürk, "Bases operating in Turkey through bilateral agreements have been placed under Turkish control and command. Incirlik is also included in this. Bilateral agreements have lost their validity," he was said.
In the statement made by the Turkish Armed Forces, "The Turkish Armed Forces seized all bases and facilities in Turkey in accordance with the decision of the Council of Ministers. High-ranking Turkish officers were brought to the head of the administration there," it was stated.
This important and noble decision, taken during the late Asiltürk's time as the Minister of the Interior, went down in history as a true response to the spoiledness of the United States of America.
THE MINISTER TO OPEN THE FIRST MOSQUE IN MINISTRIES
Felicity (Saadet) Party General Administrative Board Member Lütfi Yalman shared an important anecdote about the late Oğuzhan Asiltürk's ministry.
Saying, “Oğuzhan Asiltürk was the first person to open a mosque in the ministries in Turkey when he was Minister of the Interior,” Yalman said, adding that the deceased Asiltürk was a genuine and sincere Muslim.
"He spent his life with the Quran. Whenever I entered his room, he had either the Qur'an or tafsir in his hand, he was a genuine and sincere Muslim. He was in the footsteps and path of our late Erbakan Hodja under all circumstances and conditions. The last time we talked a month and a half ago, he said, 'I have made a promise to Allah, I will not be outside the place where Allah is pleased, I will fight for him'," he added.
