In the Unemployment and Employment February 2022 Report published by the Young Unemployed Platform, it was noteworthy that 1 out of every 3 young people is unemployed.
According to the narrow and defined youth unemployment figures given in the report, it was stated that the number of young unemployed between the ages of 15-34, defined as narrowly defined, is 2,180,000 when broadly defined youth unemployment figures reached 3,552,000.
In the report, it is stated that the unemployment figures are investigated between the ages of 15-34 as a result of the universities opened in each city, “According to Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) figures, narrowly defined youth unemployment reached 2,180,000 when for the same age group, broadly defined youth unemployment figures is 3,552,000,” the report said. In the report, it is stated that according to the figures, youth unemployment figures reached the population of Turkey's 4th largest city.
1 IN EVERY 6 UNIVERSITY GRADUATES IS UNEMPLOYED
It is stated that there is an increase in the number of graduates due to the universities opened in every city. In the report, which draws attention, it is noted that the number of unemployed with at least 2-year university graduates is 863,000, while 1,159,000 university graduates are not counted from the workforce because they lose hope of finding a job. It was also underlined that the majority of university graduates who find a job work outside their field, and 1 out of every 6 university graduates is unemployed.
NUMBER OF YOUTH SEEKING JOBS FOR ONE YEAR 474,000
In the report, which also referred to the job search period data announced by Turkish Employment Agency (İŞKUR) in January 2022, it was stated that the number of young people looking for a job for the last 1 year was 474,000, while the number of graduates looking for a job for more than 1 year was 232,000. In the report, it was noted that job search times were prolonged, as were unemployment figures.
