While Syria is experiencing the harshest and coldest winter of recent years, millions of people fleeing wars and conflicts are struggling to survive in tents.

Civilians, who had a tough test with snow and rain in the camps in the north of the country, are trying to heal their wounds despite the cold weather and impossibilities.

The rains, which were effective in the Euphrates Shield and Operation Olive Branch regions, caused snow accumulations up to 40 centimeters in the high regions.

The Orphan Foundation took action for the civilians living in the camps affected by the heavy snow and rain in Syria.

With the support of philanthropists, a total of 300 tons of coal was donated to 1,200 families living in tents in the region.

“HEAVEST WINTER OF THE LAST 30 YEARS”

Orphan Foundation President Murat Yılmaz, who personally took part in the distribution of aid, made important statements.

Yılmaz said that they were in the Al-Said camp in the Maret al-Masry region.

"The people of the region are experiencing one of the harshest winters in the last 30 years. And for the first time in 7 years, it is snowing in the Idlib region. Therefore, the temperature drops to zero degrees at midnight. And our brothers here have been living under the same tent cloth for 11 years. I would like to thank all our brothers who helped and sent their winter support," he said.

Tents have collapsed

While many camps were adversely affected by the rains in the region, dozens of tents collapsed.

The Orphan Foundation extended a helping hand to the civilians, who said they had no basic food or fuel.

The support of philanthropists reached the region with the campaign "Cold does not affect on warm love" initiated by the Orphan Foundation.

The foundation, which brought 300 tons of coal to the countryside of Idlib, distributed it to the civilians living in the region.
