The Federation of Associations that Value Humanity (IDDEF) continues its Ramadan activities in the refugee camp in the Arsal region of Lebanon, where people fleeing the war in Syria live and work throughout the year. In this context, IDDEF teams, who visited the tents and delivered the relics of the benefactors, learned that they had not eaten meat for a long time with the Şerif family and that 14-year-old Sara Merve Şerif very much wanted to eat chicken. Taking action for Merve and other orphaned children, İDDEF organized an iftar meal consisting of chicken dinner for 40 orphans due to the month of Ramadan. Children taken from the camp by vehicles met at the table they dreamed of in a restaurant in the center of Arsal. Merve and her friends, whose tears turned into smiles, had a happy day, and the cake was cut after the meal.
64-YEAR-OLD GRANDFATHER OF THE ORPHAN: “WE ARE IN A VERY BAD AND HARD SITUATION”
Merve's 64-year-old grandfather, Nadir Muhammed Şerif, who has an eye condition, said in a statement to his granddaughter, Sara Merve, who stayed with them the most, he was sorry, he said, “It is not possible for us to taste the meat. We were able to taste it for the first time, thanks to the meats distributed to us a few days ago. If they had not distributed it, we could not have bought the chicken or the meat. My eyesight is uncomfortable and I can't see beyond a meter. We are in a very bad and difficult situation. Life gets harder during Ramadan. We are fasting, but we need food. Merve's mother, whose father passed away in Syria, also married another person and left here. We are looking after Merve.”
