Felicity (Saadet) Party Chairman Temel Karamollaoğlu made important evaluations on the agenda at the weekly press conference held at the party's headquarters. Karamollaoğlu reminded that between May 10 and 16 is the Week of the Disabled, expressing that the disabled do not want to be remembered only this week, he called to the government. Karamollaoğlu said, "We hope this week it will make an effort to raise awareness about the disabled."
KARAMOLLAOĞLU: “REAL INFLATION IS OVER 70 PERCENT”
Emphasizing that the main agenda of the citizens is the economy, Karamollaoğlu drew attention to the fact that citizens talk about economic problems in every environment. Karamollaoğlu stated that he lost his former confidence in the figures given by Turkish Statistical Institute (TURKSTAT) and added, “TURKSTAT announced the Consumer Price Index (CPI) as 69,97 percent. Thanks to them, they worked with the meticulousness of a jeweler, they did not say 70 percent. It was 89,10 percent in food and 105,86 in transportation. Considering the increases in this items, Everyone can clearly see that the real inflation is over 70 percent and that triple-digit inflation is now inevitable.”
“WE BACK 27 YEARS AGO IN PPI”
Referring to the Producer Price Index (PPI) figure announced by TURKSTAT, Karamollaoğlu pointed out that the PPI figures indicate that price increases will continue, “Again, TURKSTAT announced PPI as 121,82 percent. The highest figure since March 1995. Now we have left that period behind. We're back 27 years ago. The annual rise in PPI raises causes even greater concerns. It means that it will be reflected in the CPI soon,” he said.
“POWER CANNOT MANAGE THE ECONOMY, IT IS TRYING TO GAIN TIME”
Drawing attention to the fact that the figures do not reflect the facts, Karamollaoğlu stated that the institutions announced contradictory figures while making changes in the figures, and added, “Even though the government plays with the numbers, the spear does not fit in the sack anymore. Facts cannot be covered up. Institutions cannot avoid using contradictory figures. What they announced yesterday they need replacement today. They call it revision. In order not to frighten the citizens, they prefer to enlarge it little by little. The Central Bank (TCMB) revised its January inflation forecast of 23,2 percent, increasing it to 42,8 percent. So in 3 months there has been such a big change. There is a big mistake here. Where is 23, where is 42. They are touting such a big mistake as a skill. This shows that they cannot manage the economy, they are just trying to buy time.”
“THEY CANNOT STOP THE FLUCTUATIONS IN THE FOREIGN CURRENCY”
Expressing that the dollar rate has increased despite the Currency Protected Deposit (KKM), which was put into practice in order to control the fluctuations in the exchange rate, Karamollaoğlu shared the past dollar exchange rate data and said, “It is not far away from 3,80 Turkish Liras (TL) in 2017, 5,30 TL in 2018. 5,90 TL in 2019, 7,45 TL in 2020, 13,40 TL in 2021, more than 15 TL as of today, they can't stop. The practice they put forward as KKM is actually one of the main reasons for this increase. The actual price of the dollar is well above the official figures, and they try to cover it up with KKM and giving money openly. Those who actually have dollars are paid extra. Who benefits from it? Some rent circles, riches, those who make money from money. Not the poor, the poor does not have such an opportunity so that he can take advantage of it.”
“THE FIXED INCOME EARNER CANNOT BENEFIT FROM THE HOUSING PACKAGE”
Making evaluations about the packages announced by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in the past days, Karamollaoğlu stated that the solution proposal regarding the housing problem cannot benefitted by the citizens and added, “The dream of the middle class and low-income earners to become homeowners is now completely lost to history. 0,99 percent monthly interest is not an explanation that allows any low-income earner person to buy a house. If low-income earner people try to buy a house with this interest, they have to pay close to 30,000 TL per month. Only the well-to-do will benefit from this situation. We have always said; There are some families in Turkey, they are not affected from the problems in Turkey.”
“THEY LOVE CONCRETE AND BANKS A LOT”
Pointing out that the government is working on regulations that will benefit the rent lobbies instead of solving the housing problem of the citizens, Karamollaoğlu said, “The President, who caused the establishment of the five-gang, continues to give passes which benefited by the rent. They can't get enough of themselves, and they go out and advise our people to be thankful. You will condemn people to hunger and poverty, and then you will say to be grateful. Who says this? Those who live in the palace. Those who show the way of the bank to the citizens, love concrete and banks very much. They can't give up on this love.”
“IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO STAY IN TURKEY FOREVER”
Answering the questions of the members of the press after the press conference he held, Karamollaoğlu answered the question about the refugees, “It is not possible to address this issue with sharp expressions. This is a process, but we cannot ensure that all refugees stay in this country forever. Opportunities must be created for asylum seekers to live in their own country. The civil war in Syria must be prevented. As Turkey, we took steps that supported the escalation of the civil war to its peak at the beginning. Due to the steps of the government, we had to accept the refugees. Asylum seekers in Turkey should return to their own countries with the establishment of their living environment in their country," he added.
