Even though it is said that "the economy is balancing" on the basis of some economic data published in recent months, the number of unemployed does not decrease, it is increasing!
According to last year the number of unemployed in Turkey increased by 817 thousand people in September, leaving 4 million 566 thousand people, the unemployment rate was 13.8 percent.
26.1 PERCENT OF YOUNG PEOPLE BETWEEN 15-24 YEARS OLD
Turkey Statistical Institute, according to labor force statistics for September 2019, Turkey in the number of unemployed aged 15 and over, in September of last year increased by 817 thousand persons compared to the same month of 4 million 566 thousand. The unemployment rate rose by 2.4 points to 13.8 percent. The youth unemployment rate for the 15-24 age group rose by 4.5 percentage points to 26.1 percent. Unemployment rate in the 15-64 age group was 14.1 percent with an increase of 2.4 points.
NO NEW EMPLOYMENT, AND DECREASING
Number of employed persons decreased by 623 thousand persons in September 2019 compared to the same period of the previous year to 28 million 440 thousand persons and the employment rate decreased by 1.7 points to 46.1 percent.
In this period, the number of workers in the agricultural sector decreased by 108 thousand and the number of non-agricultural workers decreased by 516 thousand. 19.3 percent of those employed in agriculture, 19.5 percent in industry, 5.5 percent in construction, 55.7 percent took part in the service sector. Compared to the same period of the previous year, the share of the agricultural sector in employed persons increased by 0.1 points, the share of services sector increased by 1.4 points, while the share of industry sector decreased by 0.1 points and the share of construction sector decreased by 1.4 points.
OFF-FORM RATE 36 PERCENT
In September 2019, labor force increased by 193 thousand people compared to the same period of the previous year and reached 33 million 6 thousand people and the labor force participation rate decreased by 0.5 points to 53.5 percent.
In September 2019, the share of employees without any social security institutions increased by 2.2 points compared to the same period of the previous year and became 36 percent.
