Master Teachers Platform, One Roof Education, Culture and Solidarity Association and Paid Teachers Platform held a press statement in Ulus Square to voice the problems of paid teachers.
Hatice Temel, President of One Roof Education Association, who made a press statement on behalf of the group, stated that paid teachers have been teaching for years only with hourly wages.
She stated that they do not have union rights and personal rights and that their wages are cut on public holidays and in case of illness, and that paid teachers should be taken into staff and contracted status.
"The existence and poverty of the school principal and administrators, who work below the minimum wage in educational institutions, do everything that a permanent teacher does, are treated as second class even by their own colleagues, who are exposed to drudgery and mobbing, but cannot complain about it, who know that they will not find a job in the next term when they complain, We are the modern slaves between the lips. We are against this caste system," Temel said.
“WE WANT TO BE INCLUDED IN THE STAFF AND CONTRACT CATEGORY”
Hatice Temel said that they are experienced teachers and master trainers in their fields.
"The fact that we were paid less than the minimum wage, that our insurance was half invested, that we worked at schools in the winter and in temporary jobs in the summer in order to support our families, was very frustrating, both materially and morally. Our state; should categorize paid teachers and master trainers separately among prospective teachers pending appointment. Because we are experienced trainers of the Ministry of National Education working in return for additional lessons. We want the labor of people who have suffered from education to be seen, prioritized and included in the staff or contract category as soon as possible," Temel added.
