TESK President Bendevi Palandöken said that it is a burden for tradesmen to increase the rental withholding tax, which was reduced to 10 percent during the pandemic period, to 20 percent again,

"In today's economic conditions, our shopkeepers should be freed from the hump on their backs by completely removing the rent withholding tax," he said.

The President of the Confederation of Turkish Tradesmen and Craftsmen (TESK), Bendevi Palandöken, made a call regarding the withholding tax problem of the tradesmen who could not even open their shutters as a result of the decrease in purchasing power due to high inflation.

Stating that the workplace rental withholding tax, which was temporarily reduced for a short time during the pandemic period, should be completely removed, Palandöken said, "With the application that was put into use during the pandemic period, the withholding tax rate on workplace rents was reduced from 20 percent to 10 percent. At that time, this discount relieved our tradesmen and craftsmen to some extent. However, returning to the 20% rent withholding rate again creates an unfair burden on our tradesmen. In today's economic conditions, our shopkeepers should be freed from the hump on their backs by completely removing the rent withholding tax."

RENTAL CEILING APPLICATION SHOULD ALSO BE APPLIED TO WORKPLACES

Palandöken, who requested that the 25 percent ceiling application for residential rents be applied within the workplaces said following words:

"While the electricity, water, natural gas bills and labor costs of the shopkeepers increased, the rents of the workplaces also skyrocketed. While the rent price in residences can be increased by a maximum of 25 percent, the same application should be valid for workplaces as well."
