A Palestinian was shot dead by Israeli forces on Monday -- and a second seriously injured -- after allegedly attacking an Israeli border guard with a knife in the occupied West Bank city of Hebron (Al-Khalil).

The Palestinian Health Ministry did not identify the two Palestinians involved in the alleged attack, which reportedly occurred near Israeli-occupied Hebron’s flashpoint Ibrahimi Mosque complex.

According to Israeli police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld, an Israeli border guard was lightly injured in the attack.

Monday’s incident was the seventh alleged Palestinian attack to occur in the Israeli-occupied West Bank since Friday.

It came only hours after a similar alleged attack near Jerusalem's Old City in which a Palestinian was shot and injured by Israeli police.

More than 200 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces -- either during alleged attacks on Israelis or in clashes with Israeli forces -- since October of last year.

Over the same period, at least 35 Israelis have been killed in the violence.

The latest spate of alleged attacks comes after a months-long wave of Israeli-Palestinian bloodletting appeared to subside in March.
