It was stated that Gadi Eisenkot, a member of the Israeli War Cabinet and former Chief of General Staff, resigned from the state of emergency government led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, following War Cabinet member Benny Gantz.
These resignations were considered as the final victory of HAMAS, which defeated the invading Israeli army, backed by the world's "superpower" the United States.
Called for snap elections “as soon as possible”
Gantz called on Netanyahu for early elections "as soon as possible" and invited Defense Minister Yoav Gallant to withdraw from the government.
Stating that he supports the prisoner exchange proposal put forward by US President Joe Biden, Gantz asked Netanyahu to be courageous to reach this agreement.
Gantz had threatened on May 18 that his party would withdraw from the government if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not approve a plan for the aftermath of the attacks in Gaza by June 8.
