At the request of the opposition, the Assembly convenes for health workers. However, the ruling party announced that it would not attend the General Assembly. While citizens, especially health workers, reacted harshly to this attitude of the government, political scientists note that the government follows such a path due to the opposition complex. On the other hand, experts also state that the government has made mistake after mistake recently due to the opposition complex.
The General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly convenes on Monday, August 1, at the request of the Republican People’s Party (CHP). Upon the CHP's request for a general meeting on the causes of violence against healthcare workers and the measures to be taken, Parliament Speaker Şentop made a call to political parties. While the ruling Party announced that it would not attend the General Assembly, this attitude of the government caused the reaction of the citizens, especially the health workers. Political scientists evaluate the attitude of the government as an 'opposition complex'. Parliamentary General Assembly meets on Monday, August 1st with CHP's request. CHP submitted the petition signed by 120 deputies to the Presidency of the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) and called the General Assembly of the TBMM to an extraordinary meeting. Speaker of the TBMM Mustafa Şentop, on the other hand, evaluated the CHP's request in accordance with the 93rd article of the Constitution and the 7th article of the Parliament's Bylaws, and called the General Assembly of the TBMM to an extraordinary meeting on Monday, 1 August at 15:00.
The ruling party announced that it would not attend the General Assembly, which is expected to convene on the causes of violence against healthcare workers and the measures to be taken. Apart from the Justice and Development Party (AKP), the People's Alliance partner Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) and the People’s Democratic Party (HDP), whose immunity files are expected to come to the Parliament, are also expected not to attend.
OPPOSITION COMPLEX CAUSES MISTAKES
The ruling party's statement that it would not attend the General Assembly regarding an agenda that concerns healthcare professionals caused reactions from citizens, especially healthcare professionals. Citizens who are used to the AKP and MHP’s rejecting every offer from the opposition, cannot understand why the government does not attend the General Assembly, which will convene extraordinarily for the health workers who lost their lives due to violence a short time ago. While health professionals react sharply to the government's failure to attend the General Assembly, political scientists point out that there is an "opposition complex" behind this attitude. Experts also state that the government has made mistakes recently due to the opposition complex.
