The South African Parliament has decided to lower the diplomatic rating of the South African Embassy in Israel to the lowest level. This meaningful decision, in which South Africa supported Palestine, reminded the decision taken by the Brazilian government last January.
At a time when the leaders of Muslim countries were competing to appoint an ambassador to Israel, Brazil, the largest country in South America, dismissed the Israeli Ambassador Gerson Ferentes to show its support for the Palestinian struggle.
SOUTH AFRICAN PEOPLE SIDE WITH PALESTINIANS
The people of South Africa, who were under the pressure of the apartheid regime, which advocated the supremacy of whites against blacks, between 1948-1994, continue to support the Palestinian people who are exposed to Israeli racism.
South Africans, who are integrated with the Palestinian struggle with their political institutions, people and non-governmental organizations, do not hesitate to show their reactions against the Zionist Israeli oppression at every opportunity.
Many trade unions, non-governmental organizations and political parties in South Africa organize dozens of rallies and protests in support of Palestine throughout the year. South African human rights defenders, on the other hand, have been declaring for years that the Israeli regime has been implementing practices equivalent to the Apartheid regime on the Palestinian people.
PARLIAMENT CARE ABOUT THE PEOPLE'S PALESTINIAN SENSITIVITY
The South African Parliament, which did not ignore the public's reactions on Palestine, signed a critical decision in solidarity with the Palestinian people the other day.
Voting on the proposal of the National Freedom Party (NFP), the South African Parliament decided to reduce the representation level of the embassy in Israel to the lowest level, with the support of the ruling African National Congress (ANC).
While this decision, which humiliated Israel diplomatically, was welcomed by the people of South Africa, it also became a morale on the Palestinian front.
The National Freedom Party, which has only two seats in the South African Parliament, thanked other parties for their support, including the ruling African National Congress.
In the NFP statement, "The state of Israel was built by the displacement, killing and maiming of Palestinians. In order to retain power, the Israeli regime established Apartheid to oppress and rule the Palestinians. As South Africans, we refuse to stand by while apartheid is being imposed on the Palestinian people. This is a movement to be supported by the anti-Apartheid leader Nelson Mandela. This is a moment Mandela would be proud of. Mandela always said that without the freedom of the Palestinians, our freedom is incomplete," it was stated.
VIOLENCE IS EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE IN PALESTINIAN SOILS
An unprecedented period of violence is taking place in the Palestinian territories occupied by Israel. The Zionist regime, which increased the dose of violence with the re-election of its Zionist leader, Benjamin Netanyahu, as prime minister, is carrying out a series of massacres on the Palestinian people, especially in the Nablus and Jenin regions.
