This week, the agenda of the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly will deal with ‘problems that the elderly have experienced or are likely to experience in various areas of life’.

The Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) continues its legislative work. Deputies will work overtime in the General Assembly of the Turkish Grand National Assembly for the proposal to open a parliamentary research on the problems of the elderly and the report of the Parliamentary Research Commission on the Problem of Mucilage.
 

MEETING WITH THE AGENDA OF THE ELDERLY 

 
During the work of the General Assembly, which will start on Tuesday, the proposal of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) deputies to open a parliamentary inquiry in order to determine the measures to be taken by investigating the problems experienced or likely to be experienced by the elderly in various areas of life will be discussed. With the proposal, examining the change in the distribution of the population of Turkey according to age groups in the demographic transformation process, addressing the new needs and opportunities that will arise with the increase in the elderly population within the scope of active and healthy aging perspective, providing more qualified public services for the elderly, It is requested to establish a Parliamentary Investigation Commission for the purpose of determining the problems they may experience.
 

THE PROBLEM OF MUCILAGE WILL BE ADDRESSED 

 
In the General Assembly, "The Report of the Parliamentary Research Commission Established for the Purpose of Determining the Measures to be Taken by Investigating the Causes of the Mucilage Problem in Our Seas," especially in the Marmara Sea, will be discussed. In the report prepared by the Commission, 157 recommendations are listed under 17 main headings on the control, prevention and effects of mucilage. Making the reduction of the nitrogen and phosphorus load of the Marmara Sea a priority, establishing an economic structure reflecting the "user pays" and "polluter pays" principles for the protection of water resources, determining suitable places for mussel farming to contribute to the improvement of water quality in the Marmara Sea, and It is also recommended to increase the capacity of the environment, to provide trainings and programs to train volunteer environmental detectives.
