The "Peace March", which is traditionally organized on the route used by Bosnian civilians, who wanted to get rid of the 1995 genocide in Srebrenica in eastern Bosnia and Herzegovina, to reach the safe zone of Tuzla through the forest road, began.

As part of the commemoration of the 28th anniversary of the genocide, in which at least 8,372 Bosniak civilians were brutally murdered by Serbian troops, more than 3,000 people, who participated in the 19th march this year, departed from the town of Nezuk.

17-year-old Neval Kaukovic, who participated in the march, stated that he participated last year as well, and said that the genocide should not be forgotten and should not be forgotten.

It was stated that this year, too, many countries, including Turkey, participated in the march. Participants will walk approximately 100 kilometers within the scope of the walk that will continue for 3 days on the forest road, which is also known as the "path of death" among the people.

The “Peace March” will end when the participants reach the Potocari Memorial Cemetery on July 10.

At the commemoration and funeral ceremony to be held on July 11 this year, 30 more genocide victims will be buried.

After the occupation of Srebrenica by the Serbian troops under the command of Ratko Mladic on July 11, 1995, the civilian Bosniaks who took refuge with the Dutch soldiers within the United Nations (UN) were then handed over to the Serbs.

Allowing women and children to reach the area controlled by Bosniak soldiers, the Serbs massacred at least 8,372 Bosniak men in forested areas, factories and warehouses. The murdered Bosnians were buried in mass graves.
