While the citizens are struggling to make a living in the grip of the economic crisis, the ruling party is playing a pencil game to deceive them.

The government, ignoring the crisis in the economy, is trying to convince the citizens struggling with their livelihood that there is no crisis with numbers. The wing of the government, which says that the Turkish economy is experiencing a "rearing" period, has been playing pen games with the export figures, which they have been talking about with great praise recently. Although the content of export figures in Turkey includes products that are first imported and then exported, the ruling party ignores this and draws attention by announcing total export figures.

“WE CANNOT TAKE THE APPEAL VALUES AS EXPORTS”

Prof. Dr. Izzettin Önder said, “Export means earning foreign exchange income by selling the added value created in a country abroad. We cannot take all the values that appear in the export figures as exports. It includes products that come from outside and are processed inside. For example, we export refrigerators. If the engine and electronics of the refrigerator come from outside, then if we are only making a plating, that is, a cabinet, the added value created inside is only plating.”

“IN TOTAL EXPORTS, THERE ARE THINGS WE PAY FOR”

"We export the total value," said Önder, "It looks like our exports in numbers, but this figure is not the added value we create inside. One reason for export is to make money. When talking about export figures, politicians talk about the total figure to generate political income. Of course, the total number is higher. But the total value includes what we pay for, that's the difference. It is the gross exports reflected in the statistics. This is not clear. We can't get this figure exactly, it depends on the products. But, for example, there is an export value of around 60 percent in electronics exports,” he added.

“ELECTRICITY AND NATURAL GAS ARE THE BASIC INPUT OF FACTORIES”

Evaluating the effect of electricity and natural gas restrictions in industries on export figures, Önder said, “Electricity and natural gas are the basic inputs of factories. Without these, the factory will stop. This means that exports will decrease. When exports decrease imports also decrease. But they are businesses that work with stock in factories. 3-5 days interruptions are of course a problem, but there is no serious decrease in numbers. The power outage is over. The restriction in natural gas has been reduced, but there should be no other situation. In the near future, the energy input to the factories should be returned to normal," he said.
