Tahsin Yiğit, who said that 70 percent of the residents of the site with 58 blocks and 580 residences, where more than 2,000 people live, were under the rubble, complained about the unscrupulous looters who covet the valuables of the earthquake victims.

Search and rescue efforts continue in the 600 Evler Complex in Hatay Antaya, where the earthquake caused intense destruction.

More than 2,000 people lived on the site with 58 blocks and 580 residences.

Tahsin Yiğit, who survived the site, which was built in 1994 and which was completely destroyed, told what happened in 600 Evler Sitesi and Antakya.

"WE THROWED OURSELVES AFTER THE WALL OF THE HALL DESTROYED"

Tahsin Yiğit, who has been living in the wrecked 600 Evler Complex for more than 10 years.

"On the night of the earthquake, we jumped out of our beds with a big jolt. Then we threw ourselves out as the wall of the hall collapsed. Thankfully, my family and I are fine, but many of our neighbors are still in the rubble. May God grant them all to come out safely," he said.

"SEVENTY PERCENT OF THE LIVING ON THE SITE UNDER THE RUBBLE"

Tahsin Yiğit, who also gave information about the search and rescue efforts initiated in the site debris.

"Search and rescue efforts here began on Tuesday. There have been survivors here, but they are still trying to reach many people. Thirty percent of the residents were able to leave their homes after the earthquake. However, seventy percent remained under the rubble. There were people who were removed while the works were going on, but there are still many people under the rubble. Our state has mobilized the means here, but it is not easy to work among a huge site and rubble heaps," he added.

"HEARTLESS PEOPLE LOOTING BANKS, JEWELERY"

Tahsin Yiğit also drew attention to the problem of looters.

"Even in such a great disaster, opportunists and those who have not had their share of humanity are evident. Banks and jewelers around our site are being looted. The workplaces of industrialists in Antakya are also looted. No matter how much precautions our police and soldiers take, looters appear when darkness falls. They steal people's property, tools, gold and money. God forbid any of them. Those who behave so cowardly while people are in trouble here should be punished in the most severe way," he said.
