In a statement signed by Deputy Secretary General Mevlana Masum, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Movement strongly condemned the arrest of more than 100 leaders and activists from across the country. The statement called for protests against the repressive policies of the Bangladeshi government towards the Jamaat-e-Islami Movement.
“RELEASE OUR ARRESTED MEMBERS”
Reminding that Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is a constitutional political party, the statement said, “Jamaat-e-Islami has always played a leading role in the establishment and protection of human rights in our country. The arrest of Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and activists is completely against the rules of political morality. Marches, meetings and rallies are the constitutional right of every political party. The Constitution does not give anyone the right to interfere with them. In response to these injustices, Jamaat-i Islami organizes and will continue to organize demonstrations all over the country. Police violently interfered with protesters in various parts of the country. We strongly condemn and protest this. We demand the immediate release of all our members of the Jamaat-i Islami arrested.”
BANGLADESH GOVERNMENT OPPRESSES MUSLIMS
Jamaat-e-Islami Movement, the conscious Muslim community of Bangladesh, was subjected to heavy oppression and persecution during the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. While Mullah Abdulkadir, Kamaruzzaman, Ali İhsan Mücahit, Mir Kasım Hüseyin and Motiürrahman Nizami, who are the leading names of Jamaat-i Islami, were executed as a result of unlawful decisions made by the Bangladeshi judiciary in the last 10 years, the honorary head of the Jamaat, Gulam-i Azam, died in prison at the age of 92. While the Hasina government, known to be supported by the anti-Islamic Indian administration, mobilized all its state power to destroy the Jamaat-e-Islami movement, Bangladeshi Muslims continue to protect Jamaat-e-Islami.
