Security forces killed six PKK terrorists in an airstrike on positions in northern Iraq on Thursday, the Turkish military said.
The air force attacked the PKK in the Avasin-Basyan region as they prepared to attack Turkish border posts, the Turkish General Staff said in a statement.
An anti-aircraft weapon emplacement was destroyed in the strike, the statement added.
More than 1,200 people, including security force personnel and civilians, have lost their lives since the PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S., and EU -- resumed its decades-old armed campaign in July 2015.
