Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak announced that they will accept Germany's proposal to extend the period of deployment of Patriot air defense systems in the country until the end of 2023.
Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak told the state-owned Polish Radio that they discussed the issue during the visit of German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius to the country.
Drawing attention to the criticism voiced by opposition politicians regarding Poland's air defense, Blaszczak accused the opposition of hypocrisy on the grounds that "during their rule they did nothing to improve air defense".
Blaszczak stated that they will accept Germany's offer to extend the period of stay of Patriot air defense systems in Poland until the end of the year.
After a missile fired from Ukraine in November 2022 fell on Polish territory, killing two people, Germany deployed its Patriots in this country in January.

Underlining that the number of soldiers at the border will be increased.
"There will be about 10 thousand soldiers. Of these, 4,000 will support the border guards, while the remaining 6,000 will be on standby. These soldiers will develop their skills in the re-established garrisons in the east of our country," Blaszczak said.
On the Polish-Belarusian border currently around 2,000 Polish soldiers, as well as hundreds of police and border guards, are stationed.
