Police nab six ISIL militants targeting main opposition CHP’s justice march

A group of six Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants plotting an attack against the main opposition’s Republican People’s Party (CHP) justice march were detained on July 5.

A group of six Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militants plotting an attack against the main opposition’s Republican People’s Party (CHP) justice march were detained on July 5.
 
Police pursued six people upon receiving an intelligence from the Kayseri police headquarters that the jihadist group would stage an attack targeting the justice march.
 
Two of the members, who had rented a black minibus in Kayseri a day earlier, were detained in the northwestern province of Kocaeli, where the march is currently ongoing.
 
The other four meanwhile detained in Kayseri. The ISIL members were also reported to have held previous criminal records at the police.
 
Kayseri Governor Süleyman Kamçı told Hürriyet that a huge provocation was prevented by the operation.
 
“Police detained six ISIL militants after receiving a good intelligence. They would attack the convoy with minibus. They had placed AKP [Justice and Development Party] banners to the minibus. A huge provocation was prevented,” Kamçı said.
 
Meanwhile, police beefed up its security measures on the convoy after the intelligence on a potential attack.
