A police officer was martyred and two others wounded during an ongoing anti-terror operation against the PKK terrorist group in the southeastern province of Sirnak, according to a police source on Wednesday.
The source, who asked not to be named due to restrictions on speaking to the media, said that the martyred officer was a member of the special operations team.
The wounded police officers have been hospitalized after the clash in Beytussebap district, the source said, adding the operation was ongoing in the Kato mountainous region.
The PKK -- listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and EU -- resumed its armed campaign against Turkey in July 2015.
Since then, it has been responsible for the deaths of around 1,200 people including security personnel and civilians.
