"Pork", whose meat is forbidden by the religion of Islam and whose meat is forbidden to be eaten and the use of all kinds of products, is now included in the category of foods whose Value Added Tax rate has been reduced, after being given the status of a butchery animal during the first government of the AKP.
Devoted citizens who are uncomfortable with the government's food policy ask questions as, "Is it Islamic to pave the way for the use of pigs to enter the European Union?", "What does the pig, which is forbidden by the religion of Islam, have to do with the food products class?"
PORK OFFICIALLY IN THE CLASS OF FOOD PRODUCTS
The Presidential decision, which reduced the VAT rate on food products from 8 percent to 1 percent, was published in the Official Gazette.
With the President's decision dated February 12, 2022, it was surprising that pork was included in the list of foodstuffs subject to 8 percent VAT.
While there are dozens of halal products such as cattle and ovine animals, poultry, fish, eggs, honey, vegetables, fruits and pulses among the food products whose VAT rate has been reduced, the fact that pork is among these foods offended the segments of society with Islamic sensitivities.
The increasing use of pork in Turkey, which is used as a very common consumer product in Christian Western countries with its meat, skin, fat, hair and more, is a cause for concern.
The destruction of pigs, led by the government, draws the reaction of the devout people.
It is known that the products obtained from pork, which is haram to use according to Islam, cause great physical and spiritual destruction to the human body.
