Preparatory commission established for Semra Güzel

The Parliamentary Constitution and Justice Joint Committee convened to discuss the situation of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) deputy Semra Güzel. At the meeting, the Joint Commission decided to establish a Preparatory Commission for Güzel.

In the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) Justice Constitutional Joint Committee, it was decided to establish a Preparatory Committee to discuss the 'general assembly absenteeism report' in order to dismiss HDP Diyarbakır Deputy Semra Güzel, who is still on trial. 

The commission will then present its report on the dismissal of the deputyship to the General Assembly of the Parliament. 

With the voting to be held in the General Assembly, it will be decided whether Güzel's parliamentary position will be dismissed or not.

The indictment of HDP member Semra Güzel, who was caught trying to flee abroad after her immunity was lifted, was accepted by the Ankara 22nd High Criminal Court, demanding up to 15 years in prison for ‘being a member of an armed terrorist organization’.
