President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made statements to journalists on the plane on his return from his visits to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Azerbaijan.

Touching on the minimum wage increase, interest, civil servant salaries and inflation, President Erdoğan gave striking messages about the new Central Bank Governor, Hafize Gaye Erkan.

"We underlined the strong ties between Turkey and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. We evaluated the issues in our bilateral agenda and the latest situation regarding the Cyprus issue. Despite all the unfair and unlawful embargoes they have been subjected to, we discussed our joint efforts to provide state services to our Turkish Cypriot brothers and sisters. We evaluated the progress made in the normalization processes with Armenia. The progress of the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia will contribute significantly to the normalization of our relations with Armenia. After all the suffering, we see that the door of peace has been opened in our region. We expect all relevant parties to act responsibly so that this opportunity is not missed," Erdoğan said.

Stating that he is at the same point regarding interest rates, President Erdoğan said, "We have accepted that our minister will take the steps to be taken easily together with the Central Bank. I think that Mr. Mehmet and Ms. Hafize will not embarrass us."
