Press Culture Award Goes To Milli Gazete Writer Adnan Öksüz

The names and works that won the “Writers, Intellectuals and Artists of the Year Awards” of the Writers Union of Turkey (TYB) were announced to the public at a press conference. While the Press Culture award was given to our newspaper's writer Adnan Öksüz, Ali Işık received the award for his work “The Second Day of the World in Three Days” in the story category, Atakan Yavuz for his work “Songs to be Sung While Falling” in the poetry category, and İsmail Özen for his work “A Snowy Night Time” in the novel category.

The names and works that won the “Writers, Intellectuals and Artists of the Year" of the Writers Union of Turkey (TYB) were announced to the public at a press conference.

Following the developments in the culture, art, literature and thought community in 2022, TYB determined the names and works that were deemed worthy of the award after the evaluation process.

A press conference was held at the TYB Headquarters to announce the award-winning names and works to the public.

Speaking at the meeting, TYB Chairman Prof. Dr. Musa Kazım Arıcan, said that due to the Covid-19 pandemic whose influence continues, albeit slightly, a difficult year has been left behind in Turkey as well as in the rest of the world.

Stating that 2022 was a very productive year for the TYB, Arıcan stated that they organized many events last year, including the Turkish Council, Ankara and Istanbul literature festivals, the “International Poetry Feast of Turkish” and the commemoration of the Poet of Independence Mehmet Akif Ersoy.

Support for the call to “create the vision of the Century of Turkey together”

Expressing that they have important goals and projects for the future with their 45 years of knowledge, experience and self-confidence, Arıcan emphasized that they want to contribute to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's call “Let's create the vision of the Century of Turkey together”.

Therefore, Arıcan mentioned the activities they aim to realize in 2023 and continued as follows:

“We will organize cultural, artistic and literary events that are the result of our thousands of years of historical and cultural accumulation in cooperation with the public, non-governmental organizations, universities, local governments and the private sector.

In particular, we have completed all our preparations for the international information feasts themed 'Turkish Literature from the Balkans to Central Asia in the 100th Anniversary of the Republic' and 'The Centennial of Literature in the 100th Anniversary of its Foundation'.

The second issue we want to focus on is our values such as Hacı Bektaş Veli, Mevlana and Yunus Emre, who have undertaken important duties in the religious and social life of Anatolia, to all countries of the world, especially the Turkish world, as well as names like Mehmet Akif Ersoy, Nurettin Topçu, Tarık Buğra, Necip Fazıl, Sezai Karakoç should now be considered as important names in the expression and promotion of our country,” he said.
