Regarding the Teaching Profession Law, which is followed closely by all teachers, Ministry of National Education (MEB) Minister Mahmut Özer announced that it will come to the Parliament in December. With the Teaching Profession Law, which will come to the Parliament in December, it is expected to make regulations on issues such as personal rights for teachers working in the public sector and making the teaching profession as a career profession. Teachers working in the private sector, on the other hand, demand new rights by including themselves in the Teaching Profession Law.
“PROBLEMS OF PRIVATE SECTOR TEACHERS SHOULD ALSO BE DISCUSSED”
Stating that teachers working in the private sector should also gain some rights with the Teaching Profession Law, Chairman of the Togetherness of Private Sector Teachers Association Şahin Kılınç said that, like teachers working in the public sector, our problems should be discussed with the law. “As private sector teachers, we have problems that we want to be solved by law. First of our problems is the term contract. Despite the fact that educational activity is continuous, our contracts are generally made for one-year periods and it reduces our education quality. The absence of a law regarding teachers working in the private sector both wears us out and leaves us vulnerable. We, private sector teachers, who are seen as workers in terms of general rights, become retired workers in our retirement. To the Labor Law on personal rights; we are subject to the Law No. 657 on Civil Servants regarding authority, responsibility and punishment. Institutions threaten teachers for the annual renewal of fixed-term employment contracts, have teachers make duties such as registration, distribution of brochures, stand responsibility, etc. In particular, the fixed-term employment contract opens the door to mobbing problems," he added.
“DO NOT FORGET THE REHABILITATION COURSE TEACHERS IN LAW”
Ceyhun Bozdağ who is Chairman of the Special Education and Rehabilitation Teachers Association, who conveys the expectations of teachers working in Special Education and Rehabilitation Centers from the Teaching Profession Law, to Milli Gazete, stated that teachers working in rehabilitation centers should not be forgotten in the Teaching Profession Law, and said, "With the Teaching Profession Law, all of our teachers' personal rights should be given, the working conditions of teachers should be equalized, the salary equivalence should be ensured with the teachers in the public sector, we want to be eliminated of the awkwardness that causes victimization with a temporary contract that treats the teachers as seasonal workers, we want to be eliminated of the sanction of slavery that took away our right to work in institutions affiliated to the Ministry of National Education (MEB) for one year after resignation from private sector, we want the severance pay and retirement bonus to be given, we want the way for our contracts to be made directly with the MEB to open, and to prevent problems that may arise for both employers and teachers.”
