Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (İBB) continues its works in public transportation.
The payment method, which is made with the use of daily QR codes without the need for a physical card, was met with great interest by the people of Istanbul.
It was seen that the students liked the Digital Istanbulkart the most, which is used by many citizens.
Continuing its steps towards digital infrastructure, İBB offered the option of having a student card in 30 seconds, as well as delivering it to the campus in 36 universities.
INTENSIVE ATTENTION TO DIGITAL ISTANBULKART
15% of Istanbulkart money loading orders are made from Istanbulkart Mobil. 3 percent of public transportation payments are made with Digital Istanbulkart. Considering the active digital card rate for the last month, 49 percent of digital Istanbulkart users are full tariffs.
While 48 percent of digital card users are students, 3 percent are teachers. Looking at the gender distribution, 58 percent of digital Istanbulkart users are men and 42 percent are women.
Looking at the age group distribution, 42 percent of digital Istanbulkart users are between the ages of 18-25; 29 percent were between the ages of 26-35.
STUDENTS LOVED DIGITAL ISTANBULKART THE MOST
According to the latest digital card data announced by Belbim Electronic Money and Payment Services Inc., public transportation in Istanbul has become 100 percent digital. With the arrival of the QR code payment system on the latest Marmaray line, there is no longer a need for a physical card in public transportation in Istanbul.
Payment made with the use of daily QR codes reached 176 thousand in a very short time. Students liked the Digital Istanbulkart the most with a 48% usage rate. The digital card is used by men with 58 percent and women by 42 percent. İBB, which put an end to long waiting times for student Istanbulkart applications, reduced the processing time for student card to 30 seconds.
