Underlining that the Kashmir issue continues to be one of the international problems, Kutan said, "A free, fair and impartial plebiscite decided by the UNSC, where the people of Kashmir can demonstrate their will, should be implemented without wasting any more time."

Reminding that Kashmir's right to self-determination is denied, Kutan said, "The right of self-determination of Kashmiris, which is recognized by the United Nations Charter and guaranteed by the UN Security Council resolutions on Kashmir, is denied. The policies implemented by the occupying administration have brought the greatest human tragedies for decades. Despite all calls for negotiation, India continues to impose its illegal, unilateral and provocative practices aimed at changing the status of the region. "India wants to change the demographic structure of the region and deprive the people of Kashmir of their land and their most basic human rights."

It has been a year of increased persecution

Saying that 2020 has been a year of increased persecution for Jammu Kashmir, Kutan continued his statements as follows:

"While the whole world is dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic, human rights violations in Kashmir have reached record levels. During the year, 474 innocents were killed, 312 unjustified searches and detentions occurred. During the year, 124 armed attacks were carried out by the invading Indian forces, while 657 houses were destroyed. Despite the UN Secretary General's call for a global ceasefire due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the occupation forces continued to commit war crimes in Kashmir, in disregard of international law and agreements. Internet restrictions continued to increase in the occupied territories during the pandemic process. In 2020, 2 thousand 773 people were detained by the Indian occupation forces despite the pandemic and imprisoned in bad conditions, increasing the pressure especially against journalists, non-governmental organizations and human rights defenders."

"EXCESSIVE AND INSTANTED POWER USAGE SHOULD STOP IMMEDIATELY"

Saying that they are with the Kashmiris as ESAM today, as it was yesterday, Kutan ended his words as follows:

"The persecution inflicted by India in the regions it occupies in defiance of international law must be stopped immediately. Unilateral arrangements to change the demographic structure of the region should be canceled immediately. The fundamental human rights of the people of Kashmir must be respected; arbitrary arrests must end; The excessive and disproportionate use of force against journalists, non-governmental organizations and innocent civilians should be stopped immediately. The Organization of Islamic Cooperation should be more involved in the Kashmir Issue; It must show that Islamic countries are not indifferent to the persecution and must be the voice of the oppressed Muslims. A free, fair and impartial plebiscite, agreed by the UNSC, where the people of Kashmir can demonstrate their will, should be implemented without wasting any more time. As ESAM, we will stand by the oppressed people of Kashmir in their just cause and continue to work for a world where all humanity can live in peace and harmony."
